GFY 2025 registration opening soon
The 12th edition of the Colourful Yunnan Granfondo Cycling Festival is about to be officially launched later this month. Taking place from 1 to 8 November 2025, the event will feature the same five cities as in 2024, but will be preceeded on Friday, 31 October by a new Duo Time Trial in Mangshi, which will not count towards the general classification of the GF Yunnan competition.
The Duo TT is held in teams of two riders and will be approx 10km in length. It will be open for 500 teams (i.e. 1000 riders) and organised in three different categories: male, female and mixed male/female. The first team will start at 11 a.m. and the last team at 15:30. When registering for the event, people will be able to choose a preferred start time.
The regular Granfondo Yunnan programme mirrors the one from 2024, but will see some significant modifications in the five race courses. The provisional routes will be published at the time of opening of registration. Total length is estimated to be around 650km with the longest stage around 150km. As always, the event also offers a daily short distance route for the less ambitious. The precise course details will be confirmed after the end of the rain season in September. With the ‘Grand Depart’ again in Dehong/Mangshi, Jinghong in Xishuangbanna is again the finish location on 8 November. Xishuangbanna is a famous destination on the outdoor and backpacker travel circuit and is very well connected. The city has an airport with flights to many destinations, and is also on the high-speed train network to Yunnan’s Provincial capital Kunming, from where you can fly international.
Residents in China are highly encouraged to join the WeChat programme of the event, for registration and other details, as well as join the international communication and info channel on WeChat to stay up-to-date. Those who do not have a WeChat account are recommended to set one up when arriving in China. People traveling to China for the event and are in need of assistance for registration and payment can contact Gloria Guo on gloria.guo@nordicways.com .
Please note that the event sells out very quickly and we must control numbers for logistical reasons. If you intend to take part and coming from abroad, do make yourself known to Gloria as soon as possible.
